Finishing A Basement For A Family In Hamburg, NY
Challenge
A couple from Hamburg, NY contacted us at Total Basement Finishing for help with their basement. They had a budget in mind and wanted a fantastic space that they could use as a family space for their children to enjoy with them. Our Design Specialist Julie met with the couple, looked over the basement, and saw the potential that they saw for a fun family space.
Unfortunately what they had in mind wasn't what it would cost to finish their basement. In May 2020, New York State instated a new building code that says that any basement renovations must have an egress window installed when the renovations are done. With the egress window, the necessary paperwork from the town, and a few extra touches that completed the finished look the work would have been about $8,000 over their budget. Julie simplified the design and gave the couple time to talk it over.
Solution
Julie met with the couple again a few days later, and they decided that they really wanted to go forward with the basement renovation that they wanted and chose to do the work with us at Total Basement Finishing of WNY.
