New Basement Living Area In Rochester, NY
Challenge
A homeowner in Rochester, NY approached TBF of WNY for help creating a new living area in her basement. She was only using her basement as a laundry space and she wanted a whole new room that she could enjoy.
Because this project was planned after May 2020, New York State mandated that an Egress Window be installed. This is a great New York State building code though, because it helps keep anyone in the basement safe in case of an emergency.
When we cut through the concrete blocks to install the Egress Window, it created a gap that would need to be addressed so that it would be safe to use the Egress Window to leave the home in the case of an emergency.
Solution
Our basement finishing systems are built for this sort of issue. When finishing the basement we filled the gap and our EverLast Wall Systems created a smooth and safe finish. Our Installation Team tested the window to make sure that it would open and close smoothly, and that the homeowner would have a safe way to leave their new basement room in case of an emergency.
