Finishing The Lower Part Of The Basement Walls In Buffalo, NY
Challenge
In the fall of 2020 Total Basement Finishing of WNY worked with a customer on their basement, where the customer only wanted to finish the lower half of their walls and the floors. The customer had recently purchased the home, and there was some water damage to the floors, ceilings, and part of the walls. They wanted to finish the lower half of the basement and make the ceiling look nice again, but to leave the upper half of the walls as they were. Our Design Specialist Piercen Hicks met with the homeowner, and rose to their challenge of designing a basement that would look nice, and solve the mold issue that had been left over from the water damge. Piercen redesigned the space in the basement to meet the homeowner's specifications using our EverLast wall panels, but cutting them down to cover only the lower part of the walls where there had been water damage. He made this look natural by adding wainscoting to the top of the panel (to look like a chair rail), and a baseboard at the bottom to make the space look clean and finished. New ElitePlank flooring helped bring the floor back, since it previously had to be stripped to a sub-floor, and new doors finished the space.
Solution
We love to work with homeowners on their problems. This one was a straightforward solution on paper, but the problem became that the upper part of the walls that the homeowner didn't want changed started looking shabby in comparison to our EverLast Wall Panels. Total Basement Finishing of WNY met all of the homeowners requirements, and the lower part of the basement looks wonderfully finished. We hope that the homeowner is content with the work that we have done and that if they decide to finish the top part of the walls that they will call on us to help make their basement truly beautiful.
