Updating A Basement In Snyder, NY
Challenge
In the fall of 2020 a couple in Snyder, NY wanted to update their basement. It had been finished in the 1970s, and again in the 1990s, and it just wasn't what they wanted it to be now. They wanted to keep two of the finished wood-paneled walls, but to remove two of the current walls to open up the basement space.
They met with our Design Specialist Todd and went through their ideas with him. He let them know that we could do most of the work that they wanted, and they worked up a design together.
While putting through permits for the work to be done, the Village of Snyder noted that where the egress window was going to be put was too close to the edge of the homeowner's property. This could have stopped everything.
Solution
Our Project Coordinator Mitch worked with the village and got a variance so the egress window could still be put in. Normally the local authorities will work with us at Total Basement Finishing of WNY to make the work that homeowners want and need to be done able to be done on their properties. Getting their approval though can take time, and delay the renovation project. Luckily this time it only delayed the project by two weeks.
